At the present, we are looking for:
The Communications Specialist is responsible for a variety of tasks involving the
communications efforts of the GLCCB. The position will require the preparation of our print and
digital media weekly. This is an outstanding opportunity for anyone interested in gaining
experience in public relations, publishing, and grassroots LGBT advocacy and who enjoys
writing. The Communications Specialist will work Specialists per week on a flexible schedule
in our Baltimore location.
Proofreading and facts checking stories.
Submit quality photography of events and people.
Update social media and websites as needed.
Write monthly news releases, newsletters
Write website content as needed
Update organization’s website, blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
• Develop video, audio and new media projects
Compile and Monitor news stories about the GLCCB and its programs.
The communications specialist will be assigned special projects during their tenure
Staying up-to- date on community events and relevant news
Creating flyers for in-house and GLCCB-sponsored events
Other duties as assigned.
Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) and
Knowledge of (InDesign, HTML) a plus.
Familiarity with AP Style.
Familiarity with Baltimore City and the LGBTQ community.
Experience with Mac OS, Adobe in Design, Photoshop, and Illustrator
Experience web content management systems a plus.
This position is a paid part time position. The pay rate ranges from $10 to $15 an
hour depending on experience.
